What is the Care Quality Commission?
The Government monitors local Social Care services through the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
The CQC assesses services like hospitals, care homes, GPs, dentists, and services in your home, to make sure they meet national standards. They also assess how local authorities are performing their duties under the Care Act 2014.
It's main aim is to make sure that services provide people with safe and effective care. CQC reports and ratings can be a useful tool to help you decide which service is right for you or your loved ones.
Understanding CQC Ratings
The CQC rates services using a four-point scale:
- Outstanding
- Good
- Requires Improvement
- Inadequate
