About REMA

REMA is an independent charity that supports the Black and Minority Ethnic Communities of Rotherham. Our purpose is to bring about social change for BAME people by supporting them to overcome barriers, help them settle in local communities and celebrating diverse cultures.

We provide a wide range of advice and support services for individuals and families. Including immigration advice. We provide OISC accredited level 1 immigration advice and support. Our adviser led service provides a wide range of support including immigration related issues such as new Asylum applications, appeals, travel documentation, family reunion, homelessness and move on support for those that receive a positive decision and are granted refugee status.

Our Community Navigator project offers settlement support, including support to Access health and education, Learning English, Benefits, Housing and accessing other community organisations/ activities.

REMA is also part of the Family Hubs network which enable us to offer a weekly baby and toddler group during term time and parenting programmes.

We co-deliver with VAR a multi-agency Migration Drop-in every other Tuesday. This is a crucial safe space for migrants living in Rotherham that offers guidance and advice from a range of organisations.

We also provide support to other BAME groups with funding and governance support to support them in their development.

We are a Hate Crime Third Party Reporting Centre and can provide advocacy and advice to victims of hate crime.

I'm very isolated in this city. Maria introduced me to some people from my community and helped to know more about the area. I'm feeling more confident and less lonely.

Big thank you to Maria she is very nice friendly person always when I needed her she was there she can sort things out in minutes and make people lives better, She really helped me a lot and am really glad that this community got this kind of person there ,thank you

Maria, I really appreciate your kindness and support ever since I have been in Rotherham. Anytime I am bothered I can contact you; you reply immediately and give me a solution. You and the other staff are doing well, and there is no discrimination. Many Thanks

“I’m so happy to attend this baby group, before I was so isolated, I can come here talk to other people. My child loves to play and sing”
