Ward plan
Providing vibrant, connected and safe neighbourhoods is a priority for Rotherham Council and communities are at the heart of everything we do. Boston Castle Ward Councillors were elected to listen to your views and work with you to make a difference in the local community.
We know many of our residents are passionate about making their community a better place to live and we are here to work in partnership and make these improvements a reality. Councillors used a range of information – listening to local residents and council staff, looking at statistics and other data – to develop these ward priorities:
Boston Castle Ward priorities
Priority 1: Address your concerns in relation to road safety and traffic
- Receive and respond to reports of crime and anti-social behaviour (ASB)
- Ensure CCTV in right places covering ASB, fly tipping, etc
- Unpick and respond to the other indicators of acute deprivation, i.e. environment, housing, education, employment, income and health
Priority 2: Support your community
Promote opportunities for bringing people together and enhancing community spirit
- Supporting individuals and groups at Christmas
- Engaging with the voluntary and community sector to understand and respond to the needs of this diverse ward
Priority 3: Improve the environment you live in
- Support work designed to enhance the appearance of key sites around the ward, such as:
- Clifton Park
- Boston Park
- Herringthorpe Playing Fields
- Hollowgate Pocket Park
- Address environmental issues at identified sites around the ward, beginning with:
- The area around Wellgate House
- The area around Alma Road/The Maltings
Priority 4: Working with you to improve Wellgate
- Continuing the development of the Towns and Villages Funded project on Wellgate, including addressing issues linked to crime and ASB and the appearance of the environment
Priority 5: Address your concerns in relation to road safety and traffic
- Respond to community concerns around the ward with regards to road safety and traffic, beginning with ensuring the community voice is heard in respect of the proposals for the Broom area
