Have your say on the review of the Elective Home Education Policy

Elective Home Education Policy review

The last revision of Rotherham's Elective Home Education Policy was in 2021. This review follows the scheduled cycle set forth in that 2021 Policy.

Partnership working is a core value of the Elective Home Education service, and the opportunity to engage with Home Educators and stakeholders has been taken. As there have been no legislative changes since 2021, the foundational principles of the Elective Home Education Policy remain unchanged. However, the Policy has been simplified for easier navigation. It aims to clearly communicate Rotherham's approach to Elective Home Education and the rights, roles, and responsibilities of all parties involved to both current and prospective Home Educators.

Prior to formal consultation taking place, Stakeholder engagement events were offered to and attended by Home Educators in Rotherham, with an event also being held with partners across Rotherham Parent Carer Forum, Health, Social Care, Police and Education.

All responses received through the consultation process will be considered, prior to the Policy being presented for agreement by RMBC’s Cabinet.
