Service description
I am qualified as a teacher but I have decided on a change of career and as I love children and have brought up 3 of my own, childminding is perfect for me. I live with my husband and two very friendly dogs. I live in a detached house in West Melton. It is located on a cul-de-sac away from the main road. I am lucky to have a grassed area with play equipment just over my back garden and have a range of outside toys and activities to offer the children. I am close to schools, toddler groups, parks and the local library.I offer a mixture of planned activities and free play. Children are given the opportunity to follow their personal interests and favourite activities, but also encouraged to try new things. They will be offered construction toys (e.g. wooden blocks, Lego and Mecanno), imaginative play (e.g. farm set, small world and dressing up), creative activities (e.g. crayoning, modelling and play dough), messy play (e.g. gloop and painting), educational toys (e.g. jigsaws, threading, sorting, number, shape, colour and letter recognition) and outdoor activities (in the garden and at local parks and play areas.)
As well as more traditional play activities I also offer treasure baskets and heuristic play to preschool children where the children’s play opportunities are open ended. They are encouraged to explore different materials, textures, sizes and shapes and learn lots of early Science and Numeracy as they play.
Preschool children are taken to toddler groups, soft play and play cafes depending on the days they are with me. They are taken to local parks and on short outings such as to feed the ducks or to farms. They may occasionally be taken on longer outings with your permission.
I am Ofsted registered and I have attended a number of childminding courses and I am up to date on my Paediatric first aid and safeguarding. I also have ‘O’ levels, ‘A’ levels, a B.A. degree and a P.G.C.E (Post graduate Certificate of Education).

At my setting I am commited to include children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities including medical and dietary requirements.
I work in partnership with outside agencies that support your child to guarantee a multi-agency approach when meeting your child’s identified individual needs.
I have accessed training around areas relating to Special Educational Needs and disability with a commitment to keeping this updated.
