Assistive Living Technology

What is assistive living technology?

Assistive living technology is a range of devices or systems that can help you to live independently in your home. This is also known as Technology Enabled Care. These are not necessarily medical devices.

This equipment can support you in many areas of your everyday life, including:

  • environmental safety (e.g., alarms for people with sensory needs)
  • environmental control (e.g., turning on and off lights)
  • communication (making it easier to contact people)
  • taking medication (reminders)
  • orientation (knowing when and where you are)

Fees and charges

There is no charge for any assistive technology equipment.

However, some equipment needs to be linked to the community alarm service provided by Rothercare. There is a charge for this alarm service.

Request assistive technology

To request assistive technology please contact the Adult Care Customer Contact team.
