About RASCAL
The Board was set up in April 2024. It is made up of people who have an interest in shaping Adult Social Care in Rotherham, including people who use Council services. They meet once a month at Rotherham Town Hall and are supported by staff members at the Council.
We aim to:
- influence, help to design, and co-produce changes to new and existing services
- work together and share our knowledge to help the Council improve
- be diverse and inclusive – recognise that everyone has an independent voice
- provide scrutiny of Council services and plans
Why is this important?
The people who use a service are best placed to help it improve.
When Council services and the people who use those services work together as equals, we can solve problems, design better services, and move forward together. This is called co-production.
Listening to people and learning from them means the Council is more likely to get things right first time.
What we have worked on so far
The group has worked on topics like the adult social care website and the Rascal news e-bulletin. In 2025 we will be looking at the topics like financial exploitation, advocacy, and many more!
