The Hearing Impairment Service work closely with children, parents, carers, educational settings, and other professionals to ensure the needs of deaf and hearing-impaired children and their families are met. The Hearing Impairment Team is made up of Qualified Teachers of the Deaf, Teachers of the Deaf, an Educational Audiologist, Experienced and Qualified Specialist Support Staff, a Deaf Instructor and Family Support Worker.
The Hearing Impairment Team operate an open referral policy for children and young people with an identified or suspected hearing loss. All children referred will be assessed in line with Rotherham Graduated Response.
Referrals to the service can be received from any source including the below:
- Parent/Carer
- Schools
- Speech and Language Community
- Rotherham Hospital Audiology Department
