The Carers Emergency Scheme makes sure that the person you care for will still have support if you are suddenly unable to care for them.
Planning for Emergencies
If you are a carer, you might worry about what will happen if you are suddenly not able to care for someone. It’s important to have a conversation with the person you care for about planning for emergencies. You should also talk with family and friends who might be able to step in and provide support if needed.
We can help you with emergency planning as part of your carers assessment. We can help you to create an emergency plan that will be registered with the Carers Emergency Scheme. You’ll receive all the information you need to access this scheme when the time comes.
Support in an Emergency
The person you care for will have access to care and support if there is an emergency. This could be something like a sudden injury, illness, or going into hospital.
The Council aims to give support within an hour, for up to 48 hours (or 72 hours during a bank holiday). We will then review their longer-term needs and put a care plan in place.
Rothercare
Rothercare is a community alarm service which can help vulnerable residents live safely at home.
