What happens after an anti-social behaviour report
For reports of serious violence, harassment, intimidation, or threats, we will contact you within 1 working day.
For reports of noise nuisance, rowdy or offensive behaviour, isolated incidents, and damage to property or communal areas, we will contact you within 5 working days.
After you have reported anti-social behaviour
Once you’ve reported anti-social behaviour, a Council officer will get in touch to discuss your report. The type of anti-social behaviour you report will determine which officer contacts you. For example:
- If you report noise nuisance, an officer from the Community Protection team will contact you.
- If you report verbal abuse or offensive behaviour, an Area Housing Officer will contact you.
We’ll keep in regular contact with you and update you on what action is being taken and what is expected from you at each stage.
We will review each anti-social behaviour report and decide whether it is deemed as anti-social behaviour. If it is not deemed as anti-social behaviour you will be informed of the reasons why.
Closing of a report
Once an investigation is completed of your anti-social behaviour report, and the appropriate tools and enforcement powers have been applied, we will let you know that we are closing your case.
We will give you the opportunity to provide us with feedback about the handling of your anti-social behaviour report through an 'Anti-social Behaviour Satisfaction Survey'. We value your feedback; this will help us to make services improvements.
A case will also be closed when:
- An investigation has been undertaken and it has been deemed not to be anti-social behaviour.
- An investigation has been undertaken and there is insufficient evidence.
- Anti-social behaviour reported issues have been resolved through early intervention, or formal action.
- The reporter has not been in contact and reasonable efforts from the Officer to contact them have been made.
