Exceptions to the Premium Charge

Class H - Dwellings being actively marketed for let (12 months limit)

Qualification Criteria

The property must be actively marketed for let, for a fair market rental value.

The exception would apply for up to 12 months from the date it was actively marketed for let, or until a new tenancy commences, whichever is sooner.

Whilst the exception is applied the property will still be subject to the standard Council Tax charge.

If after 12 months, the property remains up for let or the tenancy has not yet commenced, the applicable premium charge will apply.  A further Class H Exception can only then be applied after the property has been subject to a tenancy agreement lasting at least 6 months.
