Temporary accommodation
If you are unable to find your own accommodation for the night, such as with family or friends or arranging a hotel room, we may offer emergency accommodation if you are eligible for assistance and in priority need while we work with you to find alternative accommodation.
The Council aims to prevent homelessness and encourages those at risk of losing their home to make contact at the earliest possible stage. If someone is homeless, the Council will assess their legal duty to provide temporary accommodation while investigating the case.
The Temporary Accommodation Placement Policy outlines how the Council allocates temporary accommodation, ensuring offers are suitable, high-quality, and fair, with a focus on customer satisfaction and providing a safe, supportive environment. A customer guide has been developed to identify key points within the policy that households placed into temporary accommodation need to know about. The full Temporary Accommodation Placement Policy is also available.
