Understanding your care costs
Thinking about care can be overwhelming, and understanding the financial side of things can be especially confusing.
Here is a quick overview of how it works:
Care Home
- If your savings and investments (capital) are less than £23,250, you may need to contribute towards your care costs.
- If your capital is more than £23,250, you are likely to pay for all your care costs.
Non-Residential Care
- If your capital is less than £23,250 (as a single person) or less than £46,500 (as a couple), you may need to contribute.
- If your capital is more than £23,250 (as a single person) or more than £46,500 (as a couple), you will likely pay for all your care costs, up to a maximum of £653 per week.
